GISFF 2017 :

Michigan State University (MSU) is a public research university in East Lansing, Michigan, United States. MSU was founded in 1855, then became the nation's first land-grant institution, serving as a model for future land-grant universities. The university was founded as the Agricultural College of the State of Michigan, one of the country's first institutions of higher education to teach scientific agriculture. After the introduction of the Morrill Act in 1862, the college became coeducational and expanded its curriculum beyond agriculture. Today, MSU is the ninth-largest university in the United States (in terms of enrollment) and has approximately 540,000 living alumni worldwide. Michigan State frequently ranks among the top 30 public universities in the United States and the top 70 universities in the world per Times Higher Education. The university's campus houses the National Superconducting Cyclotron Laboratory, the W. J. Beal Botanical Garden, the Abrams Planetarium, the Wharton Center for Performing Arts, the Eli and Edythe Broad Art Museum, the Facility for Rare Isotope Beams, and the country's largest residence hall system.

For the first time, Michigan State will be hosting The Globe International Film Festival in Campus Center Cinemas at Wells hall. The kickoff will be on Thursday, April 6th. The closing ceremony will be on Sunday April 9th.



University Activity Board

Founded in 1916, the Union Activities Board was the first student organization established at MSU. The Campus Center was founded in 1999 and provided late-night weekend entertainment. These two organizations joined in 2001 to form the University Activities Board. The University Activities Board provides quality social, recreational and educational programs planned and implemented by students, for students in the MSU community. UAB provides free or low-cost entertainment for students and serves as an alternate late night / weekend entertainment choice.

Who We Are

UAB is comprised of eleven student directors, three advisors, two graduate students and over 50 members. The directors are undergraduate students who receive compensation for their position. All directors oversee their committee responsibilities and volunteers. UAB members are volunteers that attend meetings and participate in event planning and production.

GISFF 2016 :

The University of Art is one of the accredited universities in Iran. Some parts of this university were established in 1979. Then in 1991 five different institutes of arts combined together and University of Art was founded. This is the largest comprehensive university in Iran which is devoted to the art fields.

In 1979 after reorganizing five formerly independent institutions: The Conservatory of Music (1918), The Collage of National Music (1949), The Collage of Decorative Arts (1960), The Collage of Dramatic Arts(1964), And Farabi University (1975), it was formed as the Art Academic Complex, and in 1991, it was named as the University of Art.

University of Art is a major center for art education in Iran with an international reputation. This university has been pioneer in teaching so many of art majors in Iran and Middle East. University of Art has five faculties in Tehran and Karaj: Faculty of Applied Arts, Faculty of Visual Arts, Faculty of Cinema & Theater, Faculty of Music, Faculty of Architecture and Urban Planning.

Currently there are 3950 full time students, 135 full time faculty members, and 330 part time professors in this university; with 21 majors in bachelor’s degree, 29 majors in master’s degree, and 5 major in PhD.

The 1st Globe International Silent Film Festival was held in Farabi Theater, with the support of The Cultural Department of University of Art, under the name of Tehran International Silent Film Festival.
